CKD-EPI（肌酐）由Levey等人于 2009 年开发，Inker等人于 2012 年验证，发现比 MDRD 方程更准确。近期关于对黑人患者使用的争论已经出现(种族是一种社会结构，而不是生物结构)，因此，Inker等人在 2021 年更新了 CKD-EPI 公式，以便从方程中去除种族因素。
